- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Public support for Peruvian president Alan García has fallen considerably this year, according to a poll by CPI. Only 15 per cent of respondents approve of García’s performance, down 17.2 points since May.

- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Democrat Barack Obama is ahead of Republican John McCain in the Beaver State, according to a poll by Rasmussen Reports. 54 per cent of respondents in Oregon would vote for the Illinois senator in this year’s United States presidential election, while 43 per cent would back the Arizona senator.

- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Republican John McCain could carry the Bluegrass State in this year’s United States presidential election, according to a poll by Rasmussen Reports. 52 per cent of respondents in Kentucky would vote for the Arizona senator, while 42 per cent would back Democratic Illinois senator Barack Obama.

Canadians Worried About Health, Arts with Tories
- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Many Canadian adults believe two situations are likely to happen if the Conservative party forms a majority government after this month’s federal election, according to a poll by Angus Reid Strategies released by the Toronto Star. 64 per cent of respondents think the role of private health care providers would be expanded, and 64 per cent say that funding for programs related to the arts and film will be reduced.

- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Republican John McCain could carry the Cornhusker State in this year’s United States presidential election, according to a poll by Rasmussen Reports. 56 per cent of respondents would vote for the Arizona senator, while 37 per cent would back Illinois senator Barack Obama.

Palestinians Support Regulating Arms Permits

- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Most people in Russia are content with their country’s financial status, according to a poll by the Public Opinion Foundation. 57 per cent of respondents say the state of Russia’s economy is satisfactory, while 22 per cent say it is poor.

- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Many people in Britain—though not a majority—think that the opposition Conservative party is ready to assume the country’s leadership, according to a poll by YouGov published in the Daily Telegraph. 43 per cent of respondents share this view.

- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - The Conservative party has extended its advantage in Canada, according to a poll by Angus Reid Strategies released by the Toronto Star. 38 per cent of respondents would vote for the governing Tories in this month’s legislative ballot.

- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Democrat Barack Obama has a five-point lead over Republican John McCain in New Mexico, according to a poll by Research & Polling. 45 per cent of respondents would vote for the Illinois senator in this year’s United States presidential election, while 40 per cent would back the Arizona senator.

Cameron’s Tories Still First in Britain
- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Britain’s Conservative party has lost some support this month but remains in a comfortable position to win the next legislative ballot, according to a poll by ICM Research published in The Guardian. 42 per cent of respondents would support the Tories in the next election to the House of Commons, down two points since mid-August.

Czech Opinion Shifting on Missile Shield
- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - The proportion of people who support participating in a defence project with the United States has increased in the Czech Republic, according to a poll by Factum Invenio published in Mlada fronta Dnes. 38 per cent of respondents agree with the U.S. installing part of its defence capabilities on Czech soil, up 13 points since October 2007.
