Minnesota: Obama 53%, McCain 41%
(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Democrat Barack Obama is ahead of Republican John McCain in the North Star State, according to a poll by Opinion Research Corporation. 53 per cent of respondents would back the Illinois senator in this year’s United States presidential election, while 41 per cent would vote for the Arizona senator.
In a poll by Minnesota Public Radio and the Humphrey Institute, Obama holds a ten-point advantage over McCain.
In 2004, Democrat John Kerry carried Minnesota’s 10 electoral votes, with 51 per cent of all cast ballots. The last Republican to win the North Star State in a presidential election was Richard Nixon in 1972.
U.S. president George W. Bush is ineligible for a third term in office. The next U.S. presidential election is scheduled for Nov. 4.
