Bush Approval Falls Back to 36% in U.S.
(Angus Reid Global Scan) - Public support for George W. Bush fell this month in the United States, according to a poll by American Research Group. 36 per cent of respondents approve of the president's performance, down four points since December.
Bush—a Republican—earned a second four-year term in the November 2004 presidential election. In November 2005, Bush registered all-time approval lows in surveys released by nine different polling firms and media outlets, including American Research Group.
On Jan. 26, Bush discussed his financial policies, declaring, "We've got a record, and a good one. And that's what I intend to campaign on, and explain to people why I've made the decisions I've made, and why they're necessary to protect the American people, and why they've been necessary to keep this economy strong, and why the policies we've got will keep this economy strong in the future." 34 per cent of respondents approve of the way Bush is handling the economy, down two points in a month.
