(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Democrat Barack Obama is ahead of Republican John McCain in the Granite State, according to a poll by Research 2000. 48 per cent of respondents in New Hampshire would vote for the Illinois senator in the 2008 United States presidential election, while 44 per cent would support the Arizona senator.

(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Republican John McCain could carry the Volunteer State in this year’s United States presidential election, according to a poll by Middle Tennessee State University. 48 per cent of respondents would vote for the Arizona senator, while 36 per cent would support Democratic Illinois senator Barack Obama.

Turnbull Fares Better than Nelson in Australia

(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - The new leader of Australia’s Liberal party is more popular than his predecessor, according to a poll by Newspoll published in The Australian. 24 per cent of respondents say Michael Turnbull would be the best prime minister for the country, an eight-point improvement since early September, when Brendan Nelson was still the opposition leader.

Few Americans Back Military Action in Iran

(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Most adults in the United States believe there is no need to launch military action against Iran right now, according to a poll by CBS News and the New York Times. 61 per cent of respondents believe Iran can be contained with diplomacy, and 20 per cent believe it is not a threat to the U.S. at this time.

New Zealand’s National in Comfortable Lead

(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - New Zealand’s opposition conservatives are well positioned to win next month’s next legislative ballot, according to a poll by DigiPoll published in the New Zealand Herald. 51.4 per cent of respondents would vote for the National party in this year’s election to the House of Representatives, up 1.4 points since August.

(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Democrat Barack Obama has a strong lead over Republican John McCain in Pennsylvania, according to a poll by Rasmussen Reports. 50 per cent of respondents in the Keystone State would support the Illinois senator, while 42 per cent would vote for the Arizona senator.

No End in Sight for Three-Way Tie in Finland

(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Finland’s three main political parties continue to run neck-and-neck, according to a poll by Taloustutkimus released by YLE Radio News. 22.1 per cent of respondents would vote for the Finnish Centre Party (KESK) in the next general election, 22 per cent would support the National Rally (KOK), and 21.7 per cent would back the Social Democratic Party (SDP). Results have remained practically identical since August.

(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Germany’s conservative parties remain popular, according to a poll by Infratest-Dimap. 37 per cent of respondents would vote for the Christian-Democratic Union (CDU) or the Bavarian Christian-Social Party (CSU) in the next election to the Federal Diet, unchanged since mid-August.

(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Few Canadians are satisfied with the way the Liberal party handled its job as the official opposition, according to a poll by Angus Reid Strategies. 30 per cent of respondents think the Liberals did a good job in this role, and just 28 per cent believe they would do well if they formed the next federal government.

(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Democratic Illinois senator Barack Obama is slightly ahead of Republican Arizona senator John McCain in the Tar Heel State, according to a poll by Public Policy Polling. 47 per cent of respondents in North Carolina would vote for Obama in this year’s United States presidential election, while 45 per cent support McCain.

(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - A majority of Canadian adults believe the New Democratic Party (NDP) would do a good job as the largest opposition party in the country, according to a poll by Angus Reid Strategies. 59 per cent of respondents think the NDP would do a good job in this position.
