- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Republican John McCain holds the upper hand in the Pelican State, according to a poll by Rasmussen Reports. 57 per cent of respondents in Louisiana would vote for the Arizona senator in this year’s United States presidential election, while 39 per cent would support Illinois senator Barack Obama.

- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Republican John McCain is ahead of Democrat Barack Obama in Missouri, according to a poll by Public Policy Polling. 50 per cent of respondents in the Show Me State would vote for the Arizona senator in this year’s United States presidential election, while 40 per cent would back the Illinois senator.

- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Democrat Barack Obama is ahead in the Hawkeye State, according to a poll by the University of Iowa. 50 per cent of respondents would vote for the Illinois senator in this year’s United States presidential election, while 43 per cent would support Arizona senator John McCain.

Right Alliance Keeps Italians on Its Side
- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - The governing alliance of right-wing parties has high public support in Italy, according to a poll by Crespi Ricerche. 50.5 per cent of respondents would vote for the Italian People of Freedom Party (PdL), the Northern League (LN), or the Movement for Autonomy (MPA) in the next election to the Chamber of Deputies.

Key Leads in New Zealand by Three Points
- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - National party leader John Key holds a slight edge as the preferred head of government in New Zealand, according to a poll by Colmar Brunton released by One News. 36 per cent of respondents think the opposition leader would be a better prime minister than incumbent Helen Clark. 33 per cent prefer Labour leader Clark, up two points since July.

Steinmeier Closer to Merkel in Germany
- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Support for Social Democratic Party (SPD) member Frank-Walter Steinmeier has increased in Germany, according to a poll by Infratest-Dimap. 35 per cent of respondents would vote for the current foreign minister if they could directly elect the country’s chancellor, while 49 per cent would support incumbent Angela Merkel.

Malaysian PM Abdullah in Downward Trend
- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Discontent with Abdullah Ahmad Badawi is rapidly growing in Malaysia, according to a poll by the Merdeka Center for Opinion Research. 54 per cent of respondents disapprove of Badawi’s performance, up 23 points since March.

U.S. 2008: Obama 44.2%, McCain 42.9%
- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Democrat Barack Obama holds a slim advantage over Republican John McCain in the United States presidential race, according to a review of ten voting intention surveys conducted over the past two weeks. 44.2 per cent of voters would support the Illinois senator, while 42.9 per cent would back the Arizona senator.
