(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Democrat Barack Obama is ahead of Republican John McCain in the North Star State, according to a poll by Rasmussen Reports. 52 per cent of respondents in Minnesota would back the Illinois senator in this year’s United States presidential election, while 34 per cent would vote for the Arizona senator.

Half of Americans Oppose Same-Sex Marriage

(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - A majority of adults in the United States reject same-sex marriage, according to a poll by the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press. 52 per cent of respondents oppose allowing gay and lesbian couples to marry legally, while 40 per cent are in favour.

(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Chile’s most visible opposition leader could become the country’s next president, according to a poll by CEP. 32 per cent of respondents would vote for Sebastián Piñera of the conservative National Renewal (RN) party in next year’s presidential election.

(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Few people in Guatemala have strong feelings on the way Álvaro Colom is doing his job, according to a poll by Vox Latina published in Prensa Libre. 15 per cent of respondents rate his performance as good, 15 per cent deem it bad, and 67 per cent think it has been average.

(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Public support for Democrat Barack Obama fell in the United States, according to a poll by Princeton Survey Research Associates released by Newsweek. 44 per cent of respondents would vote for the Illinois senator in this year’s presidential election, while 41 per cent would vote for Republican Arizona senator John McCain.

(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Some people in Thailand’s main metropolitan area think a new legislative ballot should take place in order to end a political stalemate, according to a poll by Suan Dusit University. 28.44 per cent of respondents in Bangkok believe the House of Representatives should be dissolved and the prime minister should call for a snap election.

(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Germany’s governing conservative parties keep the upper hand in the country’s political scene, according to a poll by Forsa released by Stern and RTL. 36 per cent of respondents would vote for the Christian-Democratic Union (CDU) or the Bavarian Christian-Social Party (CSU) in the next election to the Federal Diet, unchanged since mid-June.
