- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Mauricio Funes of the Farabundo Martí National Liberation Front (FMLN) is the frontrunner in the race for El Salvador’s presidency, according to a poll by Universidad Centroamericana. 49.7 per cent of respondents would vote for Funes in next year’s ballot.

- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Democrat Barack Obama holds the upper hand in West Virginia, according to a poll by American Research Group. 50 per cent of respondents in the Mountain State would support the Illinois senator in this year’s United States presidential election, while 42 per cent would vote for Republican Arizona senator John McCain.

- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Republican John McCain is leading Democrat Barack Obama in Montana, according to a poll by American Research Group. 50 per cent of respondents in the Treasure State would support the Arizona senator in this year’s United States presidential election, while 45 per cent would vote for the Illinois senator.

Norway’s Labour Steady at the Top
- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Public support for the governing Labour Party (DNA) has dropped only slightly since last year, according to a poll by Sentio published in Bergens Tidende. 30.5 per cent of respondents would vote for Labour in the next federal election, down 2.9 points since last November.

- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Chinese political leaders are highly regarded in Hong Kong, according to a poll by the Hong Kong University Public Opinion Programme. The support rating for Chinese premier Wen Jiabao stands at 79.7 points, up 1.4 points since March.

British Tories Get Stronger, Have 14-Point Lead
- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Britain’s main opposition party has gained public support this month, according to a poll by YouGov published in the Daily Telegraph. 45 per cent of respondents would vote for the Conservative party in the next election to the House of Commons, up four points since late September.

- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Mexico’s long-governing Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI)—now in opposition—is now the most popular political organization in the country, according to a poll by Buendía & Laredo published in El Universal. 44 per cent of respondents would vote for the PRI in the next election to the Chamber of Deputies.

- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Democrat Barack Obama is holding on to the lead in the United States presidential race, according to a review of 11 voting intention surveys conducted over the past 13 days. 49.4 per cent of voters would support the Illinois senator in the election, while 43.1 per cent would back Arizona senator John McCain.

Satisfaction with American Congress Plummets
- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Adults in the United States are particularly critical of the way the House of Representatives and the Senate are doing their job, according to a review of four recent public opinion polls. In a survey by Opinion Research Corporation released by CNN, 23 per cent of respondents approve of the way Congress is performing.
