- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Democrat Barack Obama leads Republican John McCain in the Garden State, according to a survey by Strategic Vision. 47 per cent of respondents in New Jersey would support the Illinois senator in this year’s United States presidential election, while 38 per cent would vote for the Arizona senator.

- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Rafael Correa has maintained his popularity in Ecuador, according to a poll by Cedatos/Gallup. 54 per cent of respondents approve of Correa’s performance as president, up one point since June.

- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Few Americans are satisfied with the performance of their federal lawmakers, according to a review of four recent public opinion polls. In a survey by TNS released by ABC News and the Washington Post, 23 per cent of respondents approve of the way Congress is doing its job.

Smaller Lead for Opposition CSSD in Czech Republic
- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - The Czech Social Democratic Party (CSSD) is ahead of its rivals by a small margin, according to a poll by Median. 35.5 per cent of respondents would vote for the main opposition party in the Czech Republic, down one point since June.

Ruling Liberals Stay on Top in Denmark
- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Denmark’s governing party remains at the top of the political ladder, according to a poll by Megafon released by TV2. 25.4 per cent of respondents would vote for the Left, Liberal Party of Denmark (V) in the next general election.

National at 52%, Labour Second in New Zealand
- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - The conservative National party remains ahead in New Zealand, according to a poll by Roy Morgan International. 52 per cent of respondents would support the official opposition party in this year’s election.

Only Three Slovenian Parties Clear 10% Mark
- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - None of Slovenia’s political parties is currently backed by more than one-fifth of the population, according to a poll by Delo. 18.7 per cent of respondents would vote for the opposition Social Democracy (SD) in this year’s legislative election, practically unchanged since May.

More Americans Want Third Major Party
- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Many adults in the United States are voicing support for a new option in the country’s political scene, according to a poll by the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press. 56 per cent of respondents believe the U.S. should have a third major political party in addition to the Democrats and Republicans, up six points since June 2004.

- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Three-in-ten voters in Norway back the main opposition party, according to a poll by TNS Gallup released by TV2. 30.3 per cent of respondents would vote for the Progress Party (FrP) in the next federal election, up four points since June.

- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Democrat Barack Obama is barely leading Republican John McCain in this year’s United States presidential race, according to a poll by TechnoMetrica Market Intelligence for Investor’s Business Daily. 40 per cent of respondents would back the Illinois senator, while 37 per cent would support the Arizona senator.

- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - The United States presidential election could be very close in the Silver State, according to a poll by Rasmussen Reports. 42 per cent of respondents would vote for Democratic Illinois senator Barack Obama while 40 per cent would back Republican Arizona senator John McCain.

- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Republican John McCain has a double-digit advantage in the Sunflower State, according to a poll by Rasmussen Reports. 52 per cent of respondents in Kansas would vote for the Arizona senator in this year’s United States presidential election, while 32 per cent would back Democratic Illinois senator Barack Obama.

Almost Half in Scotland Reject Independence
- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - The people who oppose Scotland’s independence from the United Kingdom outnumber those who would like to form a new state, according to a poll by YouGov published in the Daily Telegraph. 48 per cent of respondents would vote against negotiating a settlement towards independence, while 36 per cent would vote in favour.

- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - George W. Bush maintains a paltry rating in the United States, according to a review of five recent public opinion polls. In a survey by Princeton Survey Research Associates released by Newsweek, 28 per cent of respondents approve of the way the president is handling his job.
