Portuguese Stick with Ruling Socialists
(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Portugal’s governing Socialist Party (PS) has gained public backing, according to a poll by Marktest released by Diario de Noticias and TSF. 35.2 per cent of respondents would vote for the PS in the next general election, up 2.2 points since May.

(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Republican John McCain could carry Texas in this year’s United States presidential election, according to a poll by Rasmussen Reports. 48 per cent of respondents in the Lone Star State would vote for the Arizona senator, while 39 per cent would back Illinois senator Barack Obama.

New Jersey: Obama 49%, McCain 33%
(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Democrat Barack Obama leads Republican John McCain in the Garden State, according to Fairleigh Dickinson University’s PublicMind poll. 49 per cent of respondents in New Jersey would support the Illinois senator in this year’s United States presidential election, while 33 per cent would vote for the Arizona senator.

(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - There is no clear United States presidential favourite in the Buckeye State, according to a poll by SurveyUSA. 48 per cent of respondents would vote for Democratic Illinois senator Barack Obama, in this year’s election, while 46 per cent would back Republican Arizona senator John McCain.

Lower Rating for Honduran President Zelaya
(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Fewer people in Honduras are expressing satisfaction with the performance of Manuel Zelaya, according to a poll by CID-Gallup published in La Prensa. 34 per cent of respondents say the president has done a good or very good job as head of state, down four points since February.

Right of Return Not Negotiable, Say Palestinians
(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - The vast majority of people in the West Bank and Gaza would reject giving up the so-called right of return, according to a poll by the Palestinian Center for Public Opinion. 89.8 per cent of respondents are not willing to compromise the right to re-occupy their land in Israel in exchange for the creation of a Palestinian state and a peace agreement.

French Would Support Lisbon Treaty in Vote
(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Most people in France would support the adoption of the Lisbon Treaty if it were put to a vote, according to a poll by CSA published in Le Parisien. 56 per cent of respondents would vote in favour of the proposed body of law for the European Union (EU), while 44 per cent would reject it.

Britons Want a Cameron-Led Government
(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Most people in Britain want the next government to be formed by the Conservative party, according to a poll by YouGov published in the Daily Telegraph. 54 per cent of respondents would prefer an administration headed by David Cameron, up 22 points since September.

Flag, Armed Forces Make Canadians Proud
(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - The flag and the armed forces are the foremost sources of pride for Canadians, according to a poll by Angus Reid Strategies. 86 per cent of respondents are very or moderately proud of the Canadian flag, and 80 per cent feel the same way about their armed forces.

(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Ireland’s governing party continues to be the most popular political organization in the country, according to a poll by Red C published in the Sunday Business Post. 40 per cent of respondents would vote for Fianna Fáil in the next legislative election, unchanged since April.
