(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Hong Kong’s chief executive has slightly recovered from a slump in public backing, according to a poll by the Hong Kong University Public Opinion Programme. The support rating for Donald Tsang stands at 53.4 points, up 1.9 points since late October.

(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - The Likud party keeps the upper hand in the early stages of Israel’s legislative race, according to a poll by Maagar Mochot released by Israel Radio. A prospective tally shows Likud could win 34 seats in the Knesset, while the governing Kadima would garner 23 mandates.

Fine Gael Stays Ahead in Irish Politics
(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Fine Gael is holding on to the top spot in Ireland, according to a poll by Red C published in the Sunday Business Post. 35 per cent of respondents would vote for the opposition party in the next legislative ballot, up two points since October.

Americans Voice Support for Offshore Drilling
(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Adults in the United States are open to further oil exploration off the coasts of California and Florida, according to a poll by Rasmussen Reports. 68 per cent of respondents think drilling should be allowed in offshore oil wells off the coasts of these and other states.

No Clear Political Frontrunner in Indonesia
(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Less than one fifth of Indonesians express support for an existing political party, according to a poll by the Indonesian Survey Institute (LSI). 16.8 per cent of respondents would vote for the Democrat Party (PD) in the next legislative election, while 16 per cent would back the Party of Functional Groups (Golkar).

German Consumers Will Be Frugal This Season
(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - The majority of people in Germany are planning to have a prudent holiday season this year, according to a poll by Forsa released by Stern and RTL. 56 per cent of respondents plan to spend less money this time around compared to last year, while 32 per cent say they will spend about the same amount.

Support for British Tories Drops Sharply
(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Britain’s main opposition party continues to be the most popular but has lost a significant amount of support, according to a poll by Ipsos MORI. 40 per cent of respondents would vote for the Conservative party in the next election to the House of Commons, down five points since October.
