(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Denmark’s main opposition party is slightly more popular than the governing political organization, according to a poll by Megafon released by TV2. 25.3 per cent of respondents would vote for the Social Democracy in Denmark (SD) in the next general election, up 1.6 points since September.

(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Public support for Hungary’s largest opposition party dropped but remains significantly high, according to a poll by Median. 61 per cent of respondents—all decided voters—would back the Hungarian Citizens Party (Fidesz) in the next general election, down four points since October.

Portuguese Stay Loyal to Socialist Party
(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Portugal’s governing Socialist Party (PS) remains the most popular political organization in the country, according to a poll by Maktest released by Diario de Noticias and TSF. 39.8 per cent of respondents would support the PS in the next general election, up 3.7 points since September.

Russians Reject Army’s Intervention Abroad
(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Many people in Russia think the national army should only work to defend the Russian territory, according to a poll by Bashkirova & Partners. 46.9 per cent of respondents agree with this view, while 30.4 per cent say the Russian army should also defend a country on the territory of other nations.

More Dutch Fear Big Economic Crisis
(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - The proportion of people in the Netherlands who think that the global economic crisis will hit their country hard has dramatically increased in just two months, according to a poll by Maurice de Hond. 65 per cent of respondents think the impact of the global financial crisis on their nation will be large, up 21 points since mid-September.

(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Few adults in the United States express trust in their policy makers to address the nation’s current economic problems, according to a poll by Rasmussen Reports. Only 24 per cent of respondents are very or somewhat confident that the politicians know what they are doing.

Swedes Reject Troop Increase in Afghanistan
(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - People in Sweden are not keen on sending more soldiers to Afghanistan, according to a poll by Sifo released by Sveriges Television. 36 per cent of respondents would maintain the current level of troops in Afghanistan, 37 per cent would withdraw all soldiers, and only 17 per cent would agree with boosting the contingent with a new deployment.

French Still Happier with Fillon than Sarkozy
(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - France’s appointed prime minister continues to garner more popular support than the president, according to a poll by Ifop published in Le Journal du Dimanche. 55 per cent of respondents are satisfied with François Fillon’s performance, while 44 per cent feel the same way about Nicolas Sarkozy.

(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - This Sunday’s election in Romania will be tightly contested, according to a poll by CSOP. 34 per cent of respondents would support the coalition of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) and the Conservative Party (PC), while 32 per cent would back the Democratic Liberal Party (PD-L).

(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - The majority of people in Uruguay favour proposed legislation that would loosen existing restrictions on abortion, according to a poll by Factum published in El Espectador. 56 per cent of respondents agree with a bill that would allow women to request an abortion freely during the first 12 weeks of gestation, while 35 per cent disagree.

(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Many residents of Gaza and the West Bank disagree with a proposal to bring Arab soldiers into the Palestinian Territories, according to a poll by An-Najah National University. 52.9 per cent of respondents oppose an Arab troop deployment, while 44.2 per cent support it.

(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Italian adults continue to express support for the governing coalition of right-leaning parties, according to a poll by Euromedia Research. 52.6 per cent of respondents would vote for the Italian People of Freedom Party (PdL), the Northern League (LN), or the Movement for Autonomy (MPA) in the next election to the Chamber of Deputies, up 1.1 points since July.

(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Most people in Russia are dissatisfied with their government’s handling of the national economy, according to a poll by the Yury Levada Analytical Center. 53 per cent of respondents think the administration of Dmitry Medvedev has managed unemployment, inflation and financial issues badly.
