(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Democrat Barack Obama is ahead of Republican John McCain in Missouri, according to a poll by Research 2000. 48 per cent of respondents in the Show Me State would vote for the Illinois senator in this year’s United States presidential election, while 43 per cent would back the Arizona senator.

American Majority Still Regrets Iraq War
(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Many adults in the United States are disappointed with their government’s decision to launch the coalition effort, according to a poll by the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press. 55 per cent of respondents believe the U.S. made the wrong call in using military force against Iraq, down two points since April.

(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Few adults in Israel believe a former president should be entitled to full rights and resources at this stage, according to a poll by Maagar Mochot released by Israel Radio. 72 per cent of respondents oppose allowing Moshe Katzav to enjoy these benefits.

Britons Question 42-Day Detention Law
(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - The majority of people in Britain oppose a law that would allow police to detain terror suspects for up to six weeks, according to a poll by ICM Research and the Joseph Rowntree Reform Trust. 61 per cent of respondents think people who may be innocent or guilty of a terrorist offence should be in detention for no longer than four weeks.

(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Most people in the United States are against a proposal to establish a national speed limit of 55 miles per hour, according to a poll by Rasmussen Reports. 59 per cent of respondents reject the idea, while 34 per cent support it.

(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Some adults in Alberta are open to the possibility of an opposition alliance, according to a poll by Angus Reid Strategies. 44 per cent of respondents would support, in principle, a coalition of opposition parties before the next provincial ballot, while 31 per cent are opposed.

(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - German chancellor Angela Merkel continues to be highly popular in the country, according to a poll by Forsa released by Stern and RTL. 60 per cent of respondents would vote for the Christian-Democratic Union (CDU) leader if they could cast a ballot for the country’s most important political position, up five points since December.
