More Israelis Want Netanyahu as Prime Minister
- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Many people in Israel think former prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu is best suited than other politicians to head the government, according to a poll by the Dahaf Institute published by Yediot Ahronot. 37 per cent of respondents think the Likud leader would be a good prime minister, up six points since March.

Tsang Maintains Good Numbers in Hong Kong
- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Hong Kong’s chief executive Donald Tsang continues to be highly popular, according to a poll by the Hong Kong University Public Opinion Programme. The support rating for Tsang stands at 64.8 points, practically unchanged since mid-April.

Iowa Tightly Contested in U.S. Election
- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - This year’s United States presidential election could be very close in Iowa, according a poll by Rasmussen Reports. 44 per cent of respondents would vote for Democratic Illinois senator Barack Obama, while 42 per cent would back Republican Arizona senator John McCain.

Mexicans Divided on Proposed Energy Reform
- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Two-in-five adults in Mexico are opposed to their government’s proposed plan to reform the country’s energy sector, according to a poll by Consulta Mitofsky. 42.6 per cent of respondents think Congress should vote against the plan, while 36.3 per cent think the legislative branch should approve it.

More Americans Brand Iraq War a Failure
- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Fewer adults in the United States are willing to describe the coalition effort as a success, according to a poll by Rasmussen Reports. 52 per cent of respondents think the U.S. mission in Iraq will be regarded as a failure in the long run, up four points since March.

Swedes Side with Centre-Left Parties
- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Sweden’s opposition, centre-left parties are more popular than the governing centre-right coalition, according to a poll by Demoskop published in Expressen. 56.8 per cent of respondents would support the Workers’ Party - Social-Democrats (S), the Left Party (Vp) or the Environmental Party - The Greens (MP) in the next general election.

Obama Surpasses 50% Against McCain in U.S.
- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Democrat Barack Obama holds the upper hand in a United States presidential contest against Republican John McCain, according to a poll by TNS released by the Washington Post and ABC News. 51 per cent of respondents would vote for the Illinois senator this year, while 44 per cent would back the Arizona senator.

Chile’s Bachelet Still Below 50% Mark
- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - The approval rating of Chilean president Michelle Bachelet remains stable, according to a poll by Adimark Gfk. 46.1 per cent of respondents are satisfied with Bachelet’s performance, practically unchanged since March. However, her disapproval rating has increased by 3.6 points.
