- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Republican John McCain could carry the Lone Star State in the 2008 United States presidential election, according to a poll by Research 2000. At least 52 per cent of respondents in Texas would vote for the Arizona senator in head-to-head contests against two prospective Democratic rivals.

- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Most people in Denmark would like their country to use the common European currency, according to a poll by Greens Analyseinstitut published in Borsen. 54 per cent of respondents would vote in favour of adopting the euro in a referendum, while 42 per cent are against the idea.

Most Dutch Content with Monarchy
- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - The majority of people in the Netherlands are opposed to abolishing the monarchy, according to a poll by Maurice de Hond. 70 per cent of respondents think the Netherlands should remain a monarchy, while 25 per cent would prefer to establish a republic.

- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - New Zealand’s main conservative party continues to attract a large number of voters in the country, according to a poll by Roy Morgan International. 49.5 per cent of respondents would vote for the opposition National party in the next election to the House of Representatives.

- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Just over a third of adults in France believe Nicolas Sarkozy is doing a good job, according to a poll by LH2 published in Libération. 36 per cent of respondents have a positive opinion of their president’s performance, down four points since late March.

- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton holds the upper hand in a United States presidential contest against Republican John McCain, according to a poll by Bloomberg and the Los Angeles Times. 47 per cent of respondents would vote for the New York senator this year, while 38 per cent would back the Arizona senator.

- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Public support for the Australian Labor Party (ALP) fell this month, according to a poll by Newspoll published in The Australian. 47 per cent of respondents would vote for the governing party in the next legislative election, down four points since mid-April.

- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Norway’s governing Labour Party (DNA) remains on top of the country’s political scene, according to a poll by Norsk Respons published in Aftenposten. 28.8 per cent of respondents would vote for Labour in the next legislative election, down 2.9 points since April.

Russians Assess Putin’s New Cabinet
- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Two-in-five Russian adults hold positive views on the team that will work under their new prime minister and former president, according to a poll by Bashkirova & Partners. 42.4 per cent of respondents think Vladimir Putin’s cabinet will be better than the previous one, while 44.2 per cent think it will be roughly the same.

Canadian Majority Would Legalize Marijuana
- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Adults in Canada believe the consumption of cannabis should be allowed in their country, according to a poll by Angus Reid Strategies. 53 per cent of respondents support the legalization of marijuana.
