National Could Form Next New Zealand Government
- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - New Zealand’s major opposition party is likely to win the next legislative election, according to a poll by Colmar Brunton released by One News. 52 per cent of respondents would vote for the conservative National party in this month’s election to the House of Representatives, up one point since August.

- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - The Conservative party is holding on to the top spot in Canada’s electoral race, according to a poll by Angus Reid Strategies released by the Toronto Star. 35 per cent of respondents would vote for the governing Tories in this month’s election to the House of Commons.

- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Democrat Barack Obama is slightly ahead of Republican John McCain in Missouri, according to a poll by SurveyUSA. 50 per cent of respondents in the Show Me State would vote for the Illinois senator in this year’s United States presidential election, while 47 per cent would back the Arizona senator.

- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Democrat Barack Obama is ahead of Republican John McCain in the Granite State, according to a poll by SurveyUSA. 53 per cent of respondents in New Hampshire would vote for the Illinois senator in the 2008 United States presidential election, while 40 per cent would support the Arizona senator.

Rival Political Parties Tied in Greece
- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Both the Pan-Hellenic Socialist Movement (PASOK) and the New Democracy (ND) have gained popularity in Greece and are now tied, according to a poll by Kapa Research. 31.8 per cent of respondents would support the opposition PASOK in the next general election, while 31.1 per cent would back the governing ND.

Half of Ukrainians Want Fresh Elections
- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Many people in Ukraine would like to cast a ballot to resolve a political deadlock, according to a poll by the Institute for Strategic Studies. 49.8 per cent of respondents would agree with the president dissolving the legislature and calling a snap election, while 32.4 per cent would oppose such a decision.

Policy of Restraint Makes U.S. Safer, Say Americans
- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - More people in the United States now think that the best strategy to protect national security is to stop meddling in Middle East affairs, according to a poll by CBS News and the New York Times. 51 per cent of respondents say the U.S. will be safer from terrorism by staying out of other countries’ problems, up six points since October 2007.

Palestinians Ponder Arab Troops in Gaza
- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Although the majority of people in the Palestinian Territories would oppose the presence of Arab troops in Gaza, a significant number of them agree with their deployment, according to a poll by An-Najah National University. 54.8 per cent of respondents reject bringing Arab troops into the Gaza Strip, while 42.6 per cent would support this measure.

Memory of 1968 Massacre Alive for Mexicans
- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Most people in Mexico believe the country is still haunted by the memories of a government-approved student massacre that took place in October 1968, according to a poll by Reforma. 69 per cent of respondents say Mexicans remain hurt by the events that took place in Tlatelolco, while 27 per cent say people have moved on.

Livni’s Gender is Not an Issue in Israel
- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Half of Israeli adults believe gender will not be a factor in how new Kadima party leader Tzipi Livni carries her foreign and defence policies, according to the Peace Index Project by the Tami Steinmetz Center for Peace Research and the Evens Program in Mediation and Conflict Resolution of Tel Aviv University. 49 per cent of respondents say Livni’s gender will make no difference in her ability.
