Half of Americans Expect Pro-Obama Bias
- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Many adults in the United States are questioning how their country’s media outlets will approach this year’s presidential election, according to a poll by Rasmussen Reports. 49 per cent of respondents think reporters will try to help Democrat Barack Obama, while 14 per cent believe they will attempt to assist Republican John McCain. Only 24 per cent of respondents expect unbiased coverage.

Michigan: Obama 43%, McCain 41%
- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Democrat Barack Obama and Republican John McCain are almost even in the Great Lake State, according to a poll by EPIC-MRA. 43 per cent of respondents in Michigan would vote for the Illinois senator in this year’s United States presidential election, while 41 per cent would back the Arizona senator.

Uncertain Fate for Ecuadorian Constitution
- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Roughly one-third of people in Ecuador are willing to ratify a new constitution in a national referendum, according to a poll by Cedatos/Gallup. 32 per cent of respondents would vote in favour of the new draft later this year, down five points since early June.

- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - The vast majority of people in South Africa think global warming is visibly affecting the earth, according to a poll by TNS Research Surveys. 70 per cent of respondents believe climate change is already having a big effect on the world’s weather.

Corruption is Widespread for Most Russians
- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Many people in Russia hold negative views on the behaviour of their government officials, according to a poll by the Yury Levada Analytical Center. 29 per cent of respondents say practically every official is corrupt, while 47 per cent think the majority of them are, up four points since July 2007.

Global Terrorism is Main Enemy for French
- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Two-thirds of people in France think international terrorism is a major threat to their country, according to a poll by Ifop published in Le Journal du Dimanche. 66 per cent of respondents share this view, while 45 per cent believe Islamism is one of the main enemies of France.

Nationalist SVP Barely Ahead in Switzerland
- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - The ultra-nationalist Swiss People’s Party (SVP) is the most popular political organization in the European country, according to a poll by Isopublic. 23.3 per cent of respondents—all likely voters—would vote for the SVP in the next election to the National Council.

Views on Gays in the Military Shift in U.S.
- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - More adults in the United States believe homosexuals who publicly disclose their sexual orientation should be allowed to serve in the military, according to a poll by TNS released by ABC News and the Washington Post. 75 per cent of respondents agree with this rationale, up 29 points since May 1993.

- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - The conservative Austrian People’s Party (OVP) is the early leader in the European country’s legislative race, according to a poll by OGM. 33 per cent of respondents would vote for the OVP in this year’s election, while 30 per cent would back the Social-Democratic Party of Austria (SPO).

- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - The vast majority of people in Britain think the country’s financial status has been negatively affected during the tenure of Gordon Brown, according to a poll by Populus published in The Times. 82 per cent of respondents say the economy has changed for the worse since Brown became prime minister.

- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Many people in Paraguay want the new government to focus on creating more jobs, according to a poll by GEO and Transparencia Paraguay. 38.6 per cent of respondents think unemployment should the main priority for the administration.

Belarusians Nix Adopting Russian Rouble
- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Most people in Belarus are against adopting the Russian currency to simplify transactions between the bi-national union, according to a poll by the Independent Institute for Social, Economic and Political Studies (IISEPS). 66.7 per cent of respondents disagree with the Russian rouble becoming the unified currency—especially if only Russia is allowed to issue it.

- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Britain’s most popular party has lost support this month but remains strong, according to a poll by Populus published in The Times. 41 per cent of respondents would vote for the opposition Conservative party in the next election to the House of Commons, down four points since early June.

- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Republican John McCain is ahead of Democrat Barack Obama in the Tar Heel State, according to a poll by Tel Opinion for Civitas. 43 per cent of respondents in North Carolina would vote for the Arizona senator in this year’s United States presidential election, while 40 per cent would back the Illinois senator.

- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Democrat Barack Obama could carry the Pine Tree State in this year’s United States presidential election, according to a poll by Rasmussen Reports. 46 per cent of respondents in Maine would vote for the Illinois senator, while 36 per cent would support Arizona senator John McCain.
