Avila Narrows Gap in Salvadoran Race
(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - The race for El Salvador’s top office is becoming tighter, according to a poll by CID-Gallup. 40 per cent of respondents would vote for Mauricio Funes of the Farabundo Martí National Liberation Front (FMLN) in next year’s ballot, down one point since May.

More Ecuadorians Like Proposed Constitution
(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Support for a new constitution has increased in Ecuador but it is still not enough to secure its ratification, according to a poll by Cedatos/Gallup. 44 per cent of respondents would vote in favour of the proposed body of law in next month’s vote, up 12 points since mid-July.

Panama Polarized on Torrijos’s Tenure
(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Panamanians are almost evenly divided on their assessment of their president’s performance, according to a poll by Dichter & Neira released by TVN Noticias and Panamá América. 49.8 per cent of respondents think Martín Torrijos has done a good or excellent job as head of state so far, while 45.3 per cent think his work has been bad or very bad.

Argentineans Question Official Inflation Data
(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - The inflation data released by Argentina’s Statistics Agency (INDEC) has little credibility in the South American country, according to a poll by Ibarómetro. 70.7 per cent of respondents think the data released by the government agency is not believable.

Ecuadorian Constitution Might Be Ratified
(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Ecuador’s proposed new constitution has gathered enough support to be approved in an upcoming referendum, according to a poll by Santiago Pérez Investigaciones y Estudios. 50 per cent of respondents would vote in favour of ratifying the new body of law, up two points since early August.

Three-in-Four Peruvians Disappointed with García
(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Peruvians are clearly disappointed with the performance of Alan García, according to a poll by Ipsos, Apoyo, Opinión y Mercado published in El Comercio. Only 22 per cent of respondents approve of the president’s work, down four points since July.
