The best-ranked premiers in Canada are Newfoundland and Labrador’s Danny Williams at 80 per cent and Saskatchewan’s Brad Wall at 56 per cent.
Manitoba’s Greg Selinger is next on the list with 27 per cent, followed by Nova Scotia’s Darrell Dexter with 23 per cent, British Columbia’s Gordon Campbell also with 23 per cent, Quebec’s Jean Charest with 22 per cent, Ontario’s Dalton McGuinty with 21 per cent, and Alberta’s Ed Stelmach with 16 per cent.
In September 2006, New Brunswick voters renewed the 55-seat Legislative Assembly. The Liberals—led by Graham—secured 29 seats, followed by the Tories with 26 mandates. The next election is scheduled for Sept. 27.
Graham has been criticized by the opposition for his decision to sell a majority of NB Power’s assets to Hydro-Québec. Last month, the New Brunswick premier defended his actions, saying, "It’s going to save New Brunswickers a lot of hard-earned dollars. And as I said, it’s a matter of weeks to have the finalized agreement in place."
