(Angus Reid Global Monitor) – More people in France now hold a good opinion of Nicolas Sarkozy’s performance, according to a poll by BVA published in L’Express. 48 per cent of respondents have a positive view of the president’s work, up five points since October.
(Angus Reid Global Monitor) – More people in France now hold a good opinion of Nicolas Sarkozy’s performance, according to a poll by BVA published in L’Express. 48 per cent of respondents have a positive view of the president’s work, up five points since October.
In May 2007, Sarkozy, candidate for the centre-right Union for a Popular Movement (UMP) and former interior minister, won the presidential run-off with 53.06 per cent of the vote. Sarkozy appointed François Fillon—who had been his adviser and presidential campaign leader—as prime minister. 53 per cent of respondents offer a good opinion of Fillon, up three points in a month.
On Nov. 25, Sarkozy said he would "announce a rather massive recovery plan to counter the difficulties of the automobile sector," and to "strengthen the building industry" during the global economic downturn. The president added: "We won’t let the auto industry down,"
