(Angus Reid Global Monitor) – Public support for George W. Bush remains low in the United States, according to a review of four recent public opinion polls. In a survey by Opinion Research Corporation released by CNN, 32 per cent of respondents approve of their president’s performance, up four points since late April.

Bush’s rating stands at 29 per cent in a Financial Dynamics Diageo/Hotline study, 28 per cent in a poll by Hart/McInturff for the Wall Street Journal and NBC News, and 24 per cent in a survey by Harris Interactive.

Bush—a Republican—earned a second four-year term in the November 2004 presidential election. The U.S. president’s approval rating has not surpassed the 40 per cent mark in a national survey since December 2006.

In his Jun. 14 radio address, Bush discussed the situation in Iran, saying, "America and our European allies sent a clear and unmistakable message to the regime in Tehran: It must verifiably suspend its enrichment activities—or face further isolation and additional sanctions. Together, America and Europe are pursuing strong diplomacy with Iran, so that future generations can look back and say that we came together to stop this threat to our people."
