(CPOD) Sept. 7, 2003 – The Baltic republic of Latvia is close to joining the European Union (EU), according to a poll by the SKDS Institute. 54.2 per cent of respondents support the country’s entry into the continental alliance.
(CPOD) Sept. 7, 2003 – The Baltic republic of Latvia is close to joining the European Union (EU), according to a poll by the SKDS Institute. 54.2 per cent of respondents support the country’s entry into the continental alliance.
Latvians will vote on EU membership on Sept. 20. The Czech Republic, Hungary, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia have held positive referenda on EU membership this year. Citizens of Cyprus and Estonia will also vote on the matter this year.
