(CPOD) Sept. 11, 2003 – Swede citizens will apparently keep the krona as the national currency, according to a poll by Temo published in Dagens Nyheter. 50 per cent of respondents will vote against the adoption of the Euro.
Sweden will hold a referendum on Sept. 14, to decide whether or not to adopt the Euro, which has been used in 12 of the 15 European Union (EU) countries since Jan. 1, 2002. Sweden, Denmark and Great Britain are the only current EU members that have not adopted the currency.
All government acts of support for the pro-Euro camp have been postponed, after foreign minister Anna Lindh was stabbed to death while shopping at a Stockholm department store yesterday.
