(CPOD) Sept. 24, 2003 – The approval rating for George W. Bush reached the lowest level of his presidency, according to a poll by Gallup released by CNN and USA Today. 50 per cent of respondents approve of the president’s performance, a 10 per cent drop in a month.

Bush’s rating has been affected by the long campaign in the Persian Gulf, and questions about economic policy. Since the start of the war six months ago, 354 coalition soldiers have died.
The American president addressed the nation on Sept. 7, and outlined his plan to request $87 billion U.S. to continue military operations. Today, Bush met with German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder in an effort to mend strained relations between the two countries.
