(11/28/03) - Roco, Poe Jr. Lead The Way In Philippines
(CPOD) Nov. 28, 2003 – Former education secretary Raul Roco and former actor Fernando Poe Jr. are the top politicians in the Philippines, according to a poll by Pulse Asia. 35 per cent of respondents would vote for Roco in the next presidential election, and 34 per cent would support Poe Jr.

This week, the actor –who has no previous political experience– officially announced his candidacy. Current president Gloria Macapagal Arroyo is in third place, with 29 per cent.
When senator Panfilo Lacson is added to the list of prospective candidates, Roco has a two per cent lead over Poe Jr. and Macapagal.
For the first time in history, Filipino expatriates will get a chance to participate in an election. The vote will take place on May 10, 2004.
