(CPOD) Feb. 2, 2004 – Massachusetts senator John Kerry leads all Democratic presidential hopefuls in Delaware, according to a poll by Survey USA released by WCAU-TV. 42 per cent of respondents would support Kerry in the state’s primary, a 30 per cent lead over former Vermont governor Howard Dean

North Carolina senator John Edwards leads the rest of the field with 11 per cent, followed by Connecticut senator Joe Lieberman. Seven states –Arizona, Delaware, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma, North Dakota and South Carolina– will hold votes tomorrow.

Kerry won the New Hampshire primary on Jan. 27, as well as the Iowa caucus held on Jan. 19. Dean finished second in New Hampshire and third in Iowa.

Democrat Al Gore won the state’s three electoral votes in the 2000 presidential election, with 55 per cent of the vote. The last Republican to carry Delaware was George H. Bush in 1988.
