(CPOD) Feb. 5, 2004 – Massachusetts senator John Kerry is leading all Democratic presidential hopefuls in Tennessee, according to a poll by Survey USA released by WBIR. 31 per cent of respondents would vote for Kerry in the state’s primary, a five per cent edge over retired general Wesley Clark.
(CPOD) Feb. 5, 2004 – Massachusetts senator John Kerry is leading all Democratic presidential hopefuls in Tennessee, according to a poll by Survey USA released by WBIR. 31 per cent of respondents would vote for Kerry in the state’s primary, a five per cent edge over retired general Wesley Clark.
North Carolina senator John Edwards leads the rest of the field with 20 per cent, followed by former Vermont governor Howard Dean with 15 per cent. The Tennessee Democratic primary will take place on Feb. 10.
Kerry has won this year’s Democratic presidential contests in Arizona, Delaware, Iowa, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Mexico and North Dakota. Edwards was the winner in South Carolina, and retired general Wesley Clark came in first in Oklahoma. The Michigan caucus will take place on Feb. 7.
Bush carried the state’s 11 electoral votes in 2000, defeating Democrat Al Gore –a Tennessee native– by less than 79,000 ballots. Tennessee has picked the eventual White House dweller in each of the last nine presidential elections.
