(CPOD) Feb. 6, 2004 – Massachusetts senator John Kerry is the overwhelming favorite among Democrat voters in Michigan, according to a poll by EPIC/MRA. 58 per cent of respondents would support Kerry in the state’s caucus, a 45 per cent lead over former Vermont governor Howard Dean.
(CPOD) Feb. 6, 2004 – Massachusetts senator John Kerry is the overwhelming favorite among Democrat voters in Michigan, according to a poll by EPIC/MRA. 58 per cent of respondents would support Kerry in the state’s caucus, a 45 per cent lead over former Vermont governor Howard Dean.
North Carolina senator John Edwards leads the rest of the field with 12 per cent, followed by retired general Wesley Clark with seven per cent. The Michigan caucus will take place on Feb. 7.
Kerry has won this year’s Democratic presidential contests in Arizona, Delaware, Iowa, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Mexico and North Dakota. Edwards was the winner in South Carolina, and Clark came in first in Oklahoma. The Michigan caucus will take place on Feb. 7.
Michigan is considered as a key swing state in the 2004 election. Democrat Al Gore won the state’s 18 electoral votes in 2000, with 51 per cent of the vote. The last Republican to carry Michigan was George H. Bush in 1988.
