(CPOD) Feb. 8, 2004 – George W. Bush would lose the state of Wisconsin in the 2004 presidential election, according to a poll by the University of Wisconsin Survey Center released by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. 49 per cent of respondents would prefer someone else at the White House.

Massachusetts senator John Kerry has won this year’s Democratic presidential contests in Arizona, Delaware, Iowa, Michigan, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Dakota and Washington State, making him the frontrunner for his party’s nomination.
Bush, who will not be challenged by any member of the Republican Party, has raised $130 million U.S. for his uncontested primary. The presidential election is scheduled for Nov. 2.
Democrat Al Gore carried Wisconsin’s 11 electoral votes in the 2000 election, defeating Bush by just over 5,000 ballots. No Republican has won Wisconsin since 1984, when Ronald Reagan carried every state except Minnesota, home state to then Democratic nominee Walter Mondale.
