(CPOD) Feb. 10, 2004 – Massachusetts senator John Kerry is leading all candidates competing in today’s Virginia Democratic presidential primary, according to a poll by Zogby International released by MSNBC and Reuters. 47 per cent of respondents would vote for Kerry, a 23 per cent advantage over North Carolina senator John Edwards.
(CPOD) Feb. 10, 2004 – Massachusetts senator John Kerry is leading all candidates competing in today’s Virginia Democratic presidential primary, according to a poll by Zogby International released by MSNBC and Reuters. 47 per cent of respondents would vote for Kerry, a 23 per cent advantage over North Carolina senator John Edwards.
Retired general Wesley Clark leads the rest of the field with 11 per cent, followed by former Vermont governor Howard Dean with 10 per cent.
Kerry has won this year’s Democratic presidential contests in Arizona, Delaware, Iowa, Maine, Michigan, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Dakota and Washington State, making him the frontrunner for his party’s nomination. Edwards was the winner in South Carolina, and Clark came in first in Oklahoma.
George W. Bush won Virginia’s 13 electoral votes in 2000, with 52 per cent of all cast ballots. No Democrat has carried the state since Lyndon B. Johnson in 1964.
