(CPOD) Feb. 10, 2004 – Massachusetts senator John Kerry is the best rated Democratic presidential hopeful in Tennessee, according to a poll by American Research Group. 32 per cent of respondents would vote for Kerry in today’s primary, an 11 per cent lead over North Carolina senator John Edwards.
(CPOD) Feb. 10, 2004 – Massachusetts senator John Kerry is the best rated Democratic presidential hopeful in Tennessee, according to a poll by American Research Group. 32 per cent of respondents would vote for Kerry in today’s primary, an 11 per cent lead over North Carolina senator John Edwards.
Retired general Wesley Clark leads the rest of the field with 20 per cent, followed by former Vermont governor Howard Dean with eight per cent. 17 per cent of respondents are undecided.
Kerry has won this year’s Democratic presidential contests in Arizona, Delaware, Iowa, Maine, Michigan, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Dakota and Washington State, making him the frontrunner for his party’s nomination. Edwards was the winner in South Carolina, and Clark came in first in Oklahoma.
Bush carried the state’s 11 electoral votes in 2000, defeating Democrat Al Gore –a Tennessee native– by less than 79,000 ballots. Tennessee has picked the eventual White House dweller in each of the last nine presidential elections.
