Yesterday, Tory leader Michael Howard criticized prime minister Tony Blair over claims that citizens from Romania and Bulgaria are entering Britain with falsified documents. Blair promised a thorough investigation on the matter, and all immigration applications from those two countries have been put on hold.

On Mar. 20, the Daily Mirror reported that Blair is looking into the possibility of calling an early vote this year. According to the newspaper, the prime minister has warned senior officials in his party to be ready for a possible general election this next October.

The Liberal Democrats are in third place with 20 per cent. Britain must renew the House of Commons by June 2006.
