(CPOD) May 29, 2004 – Many Canadians believe the presence of foreign-born residents in their country is positive, according to a nine-country poll by Ipsos released by the Associated Press. 73 per cent of respondents believe immigrants are having a good influence in Canada.
(CPOD) May 29, 2004 – Many Canadians believe the presence of foreign-born residents in their country is positive, according to a nine-country poll by Ipsos released by the Associated Press. 73 per cent of respondents believe immigrants are having a good influence in Canada.
Foreign-born residents account for almost 18 per cent of Canada’s total population of 31 million people.
Japanese adults were equally divided on the issue, while at least 53 per cent of respondents in France, Mexico, Germany and Britain had a negative view of immigrants.

Methodology: Telephone interviews to 8,938 adult residents of Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Spain and the United States, conducted from May 7 to May 17, 2004. Maximum margin of error is 3.1 per cent.
