(CPOD) Jun. 5, 2004 – The New Democratic Party (NDP) is the top political organization in Nova Scotia, according to a poll by Corporate Research Associates. 33 per cent of respondents in the Canadian province would vote for the NDP in the next legislative election.
(CPOD) Jun. 5, 2004 – The New Democratic Party (NDP) is the top political organization in Nova Scotia, according to a poll by Corporate Research Associates. 33 per cent of respondents in the Canadian province would vote for the NDP in the next legislative election.
The ruling Progressive Conservatives won 25 of the Legislative Assembly’s 52 seats in the last election, held on Aug. 5, 2003. 28 per cent of respondents would support the Tories now, while 30 per cent would vote for the provincial Liberals.
John Hamm has served as Nova Scotia’s premier since 1999. Darrell Dexter has led the provincial NDP since June 2002.
On Apr. 22, the Nova Scotia government introduced its 2004-2005 provincial budget, which establishes tax reductions for 96 per cent of all adult residents of the province.
Canadian voters will renew the federal House of Commons on Jun. 28. Hamm has openly supported Conservative leader Stephen Harper.
