The Euro has been used in 12 of 15 European Union (EU) countries since Jan. 1, 2002. Sweden, Denmark and Britain do not use the currency.

Prime minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen of the Left, Liberal Party of Denmark (V) favours the adoption of the Euro, but there are no plans for a new vote on the issue. The citizens of Denmark rejected the European currency in a September 2000 plebiscite.
