In American elections, candidates require 270 votes in the Electoral College to win the White House. Earlier this month, Republican incumbent Bush earned a second term after securing 286 electoral votes from 31 states.

Methodology: Interviews to 2,379 adult respondents in India, Indonesia, South Korea and Japan. Face-to-face interviews were conducted in India and Indonesia, telephone interviews in South Korea and online interviews in Japan. Margin of error is 2 per cent.
