(CPOD) Nov. 24, 2004 – George W. Bush is regaining public support in the United States, according to a poll by Gallup released by CNN and USA Today. 55 per cent of respondents approve of the president’s performance, a seven per cent increase since late October.

In American elections, candidates require 270 votes in the Electoral College to win the White House. Earlier this month, Republican incumbent Bush earned a second term after securing 286 electoral votes from 31 states.
Yesterday, the White House announced that Stephen Friedman—one of Bush’s top economic advisers and head of the National Economic Council—will return to the private sector later this year.
Bush will be sworn in for his second four-year term on Jan. 20, 2005.
