Government Stretched The Truth On WMD’s Say Americans

(CPOD) Jul. 3, 2003 – Many Americans believe their government was not fully truthful in the lead-up to the invasion of Iraq, according to a poll by the Program on International Policy Attitudes. While only 10 per cent of respondents believe the government presented false evidence, 52 per cent say the current administration stretched the truth in assessing Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction.

(CPOD) Jun. 26, 2003 – Americans are concerned over the amount of post-war fatalities in Iraq, according to a poll by ABC and the Washington Post. 44 per cent of respondents say the level of casualties is unacceptable, a 16 per cent increase since April.

(CPOD) Jun. 20, 2003 – The search for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq continues to affect Tony Blair’s credibility in Britain, according to a poll by Populus published in The Times. 58 per cent of respondents say the prime minister and the American government misled the public over the threat posed by Iraq.

Almost half of all respondents believe their government overestimated the amount of banned weapons that would be found in Iraq.

Bush’s fiscal proposals, according to a poll by Gallup released by CNN and USA Today. 47 per cent of respondents say the tax cuts proposed by the president will help the economy, an 11 per cent increase since last month.
