(Angus Reid Global Monitor) – Fewer adults in the United States are backing the mission in Afghanistan, according to a poll by Angus Reid Public Opinion. 49 per cent of respondents support the military operation involving American soldiers in Afghanistan, down five points since October.
Support for the military mission falls below 50% for the first time this year, as some Americans question the decision to launch military action.
(Angus Reid Global Monitor) – Most people in Canada believe a public inquiry on what the government and the Canadian Forces knew about reports of prisoner torture in Afghanistan is necessary at this time, according to a poll by Angus Reid Public Opinion published in the Toronto Star. 53 per cent of respondents support this notion, while 36 per cent oppose it.
Respondents are five times more likely to find the testimony of diplomat Richard Colvin credible than to side with federal government ministers.
(Angus Reid Global Monitor) – Most people in the Netherlands think their country’s soldiers will continue to serve for some time in the international force fighting in Afghanistan, according to a poll by Maurice de Hond. 27 per cent of respondents say the Dutch mission in Urguzan will be extended, whereas 31 per cent say the mission will continue, but with fewer soldiers.
