Security Remains Top Challenge in Afghanistan

(Angus Reid Global Monitor) – Many people in Afghanistan—although fewer than a year ago—continue to see lack of safety as the country’s main issue, according to a poll by the Afghan Center for Socio-economic and Opinion Research and The Asia Foundation. 36 per cent of respondents cite insecurity as the biggest problem facing Afghanistan, down 10 points since 2007.

Fewer Afghans Think Country Is on Right Track

(Angus Reid Global Monitor) – The proportion of people in Afghanistan who think their country is headed in the right direction has decreased since last year, according to a poll by the Afghan Center for Socio-economic and Opinion Research and The Asia Foundation. 38 per cent of respondents believe Afghanistan is on the right track, down four points since 2007.

Czech Oppose More Afghan Deployments

(Angus Reid Global Monitor) – The vast majority of people in the Czech Republic oppose more troop deployments in Afghanistan, according to a poll by STEM. 70 per cent of respondents are against sending an additional 350 Czech soldiers to the area.

(Angus Reid Global Monitor) – More people in Australia want their country to cease its military involvement in Afghanistan, according to a poll by Field Works Market Research for the Lowy Institute for International Policy. 56 per cent of respondents want the mission to end, up 10 points since 2007.
