Britons Support Changing Terror Suspects Law
(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Most people in Britain would back a government proposal to grant the police more time to interrogate terrorism suspects, according to a poll by ICM Research. 57 per cent of respondents would agree with changing existing legislation so police can hold terror suspects for up to 42 days without charge, as opposed to the current 28-day limit. (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - A majority of people in Britain question their government’s recent attempt to reform current terrorism laws, according to a poll by YouGov. 54 per cent of respondents think the Labour party administration wants to extend the pre-charge detention period to up to 42 days without charge because it wants to look tough on terror, while 35 per cent believe the change seeks to help the police do their job.
