U.S. Doing Well in Iraq, Say Americans
(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Fewer people in the United States, but still a majority, think their country is doing a good job in bringing stability and order to Iraq, according to a poll by the New York Times and CBS News. 62 per cent of respondents share this view, down nine points since April.
More Australians Would Back Governing ALP
(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - More people in Australia are now inclined to support the governing Australian Labor Party (ALP), according to a poll by Newspoll published in The Australian. 44 per cent of respondents would back the ALP in the next legislative election, up three points since mid-June.

(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Half of adults in Scotland would vote against full independence from the United Kingdom in a referendum planned for next year, according to a poll by ICM Research released by BBC Scotland. 50 per cent of respondents would reject the proposition put forth by the government, while 42 per cent would endorse it.

(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - People in Sweden are almost evenly divided in their support for two rival camps, according to a poll by Synovate published in Dagens Nyheter. 47.4 per cent of respondents would vote for the centre-left opposition parties in the next general election, while 45.3 per cent would vote for the centre-right governing alliance.
Few Guatemalans Blame Colom for Murder
(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Very few people in Guatemala think Álvaro Colom is guilty of the assassination of lawyer Rodrigo Rosenberg, according to a poll by CID-Gallup. Only eight per cent of respondents believe the president is responsible for Rosenberg’s murder.
GERB Seems Set for Victory in Bulgaria
(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - The Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (GERB) could have a prominent role in the country’s next government, according to a poll by the Centre for Analyses and Marketing (CAM). 33.2 per cent of respondents would vote for GERB in tomorrow’s general election.
Former Ruling PRI Still Ahead in Mexico
(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - The Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) could emerge victorious after tomorrow’s legislative ballot in Mexico, according to a poll by Reforma. 38 per cent of respondents would support the PRI in tomorrow’s election to the Chamber of Deputies.
Americans Not Sold on One-Party Rule
(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Almost half of adults in the United States would prefer to have the executive and legislative branches in the hands of different parties, according to a poll by Rasmussen Reports. 45 per cent of respondents think it is better for the country to have separate political parties running both the White House and Congress.
Montenegrins Want Vote on Joining NATO
(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Many adults in Montenegro refuse the notion of their young country joining the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and want a referendum on the matter, according to a poll by Cedem. 43.3 per cent of respondents oppose Montenegro entering NATO, while 30 per cent support the idea.
Tsang’s Leadership is Stable in Hong Kong
(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - People in Hong Kong continue to endorse the leadership of chief executive Donald Tsang, according to a poll by the Hong Kong University Public Opinion Programme. The support rate for Donald Tsang stands at 55.4 points, up two points since early June.
Palestinian Majority Favours Two-State Solution
(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - The majority of people in the Gaza Strip and West Bank think the best way to end the Arab-Israeli conflict is to create two states, according to a poll by Jerusalem Media & Communication Center. 55.2 per cent of respondents share this perception, up 2.2 points since November 2007.
PRI Has Five-Point Lead in Mexico
(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Mexico’s Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) heads to this Sunday’s mid-term ballot as the favourite, according to a poll by Consulta Mitofsky. 37.4 per cent of respondents would back the PRI in the Chamber of Deputies election.
Iranian Election a Sham for Most Americans
(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Few adults in the United States believe last month’s presidential ballot in Iran was free and fair, according to a poll by Opinion Research Corporation released by CNN. 82 per cent of respondents think the results released by the Iranian government were a fraud and an attempt to steal the election.
